چکیده

The aim of this study is to develop a new whole-body averaged specific absorption rate (SAR) estimation method based on the external-cylindrical field scanning technique. This technique is adopted with the goal of simplifying the dosimetry estimation of human phantoms that have different postures or sizes. An experimental scaled model system is constructed. In order to examine the validity of the proposed method for realistic human models, we discuss the pros and cons of measurements and numerical analyses based on the finite-difference time-domain (FDTD) method. We consider the anatomical European human phantoms and planewave in the 2 GHz mobile phone frequency band. The measured wholebody averaged SAR results obtained by the proposed method are compared with the results of the FDTD analyses. key words: whole-body averaged SAR, field measurement, scaled model, mobile phone frequency, plane-wave exposure system

Whole-Body Averaged SAR Estimation for Postured Japanese Human Models using Cylindrical-External Field Scanning Measurement for UHF Plane-Wave Exposure -Numerical Analyses for Measurement Validation-

The purpose of this study is to establish a whole-body averaged specific absorption rate (WB-SAR) experimental estimation method using the total power absorbed by humans; a cylindrical-external field scanning technique is used to measure the radiated RF (radiofrequency) power. This technique is adopted with the goal of simplifying the exposure dosimetry of humans of different postures and/or si...

A Formula for Simply Estimating Body Core Temperature Rise in Humans Due to Microwave Exposures

Biological effects due to RF whole-body exposure can be caused by core temperature rise. According to safety guidelines, therefore, whole-body averaged specific absorption rate (WBA-SAR) is being used as a metric for human protection. The threshold level causing thermal effects was determined based on animal experimental results. In order to investigate the relationship between WBA-SAR and core...

Estimation of Whole-Body Averaged SARs in Human Models for Far-Field Exposures in Whole- Body Resonance and GHz Frequency Regions

The purpose of the present study is to propose a scheme to estimate whole-body averaged specific absorption rate (WBA-SAR) in the whole-body resonance and GHz frequency regions. The motivation is that WBA-SARs in the child models in these frequency regions have been reported to approach to the basic restrictions in the international guidelines/standards. In the resonance frequency region, we pr...

Computational Model of Temperature Elevation in Rats Exposed to Intense and Localized Exposure at 1.5 GHz

There has been increasing public concern about the adverse health effects of human exposure to electromagnetic waves. In the radiofrequency and microwave (MW) ranges, elevated temperature (1-2 C) resulting from energy absorption is known to be a dominant factor inducing adverse health effects such as heat exhaustion and heat stroke. Whole-body average specific absorption rate (SAR) is used as a...
